Apparently the university is looking to expand to new land donated to the university by the town of Milton. Ok... so the land is free. But a few simple questions:
Who will pay for the buildings? The professors? The administrators? The staff? The office equipment?
Why is the university looking to expand still when its this over expansion hurt it so badly in the past?
Is the university really having financial problems or can Max Blouw really shit gold?
Either way - why can't they just pay their CAS profs?

Think about it for a minute, won't you? Another campus would bring in further revenues, which presumably would pay for the expansion. Paying CAS profs more does not increase revenues one bit.
Revenue... yep... just like Wal Mart.
Of course, another campus will first bring in a lot more costs to add to the healthy debt the university got under its belt.
Offering the CAS more will improve the quality of education provided.
Revenue = More money to pay teachers.
we all know that as amazing as the trickle down theory is, it won't happen. even if the school were to receive more revenue from a new campus there is no guarantee (and a very small likely hood) that the profs would see any of this 'new money'
Think about it for a minute, won't you? Another campus would require money, presumably to pay for the expansion. Paying CAS profs more would ensure that students at the existing campuses could actually attend the classes they are paying for to generate the revenue.
After the senate board meeting today, I can say, with confidence, that no student should have any faith left in the administration. I know I don't.
With all the expansion of the current campuses (and there has been A LOT!) there has been no trickle down. A new campus will just cost money.
I thought Laurier was supposed to be well-known for Business, especially Accounting....
It's not just the CAS that have to be wondering about this... most departments/faculties were asked/told to cut their budgets for next year. I think for Music it's 1.5%. Those dean's can't be happy about this either! The capital costs must be enormous!
They are talking about 150 acres - that's something like 2 1/2 times the size of our current campus!
The university has had no problems issuing and then servicing debt in the past - many investors love to hold WLU bonds. As long as the Milton campus generates enough profit so as to pay down that debt, there should be no adverse impact to existing departments or campuses.
