This is the voice of the students of Wilfrid Laurier University that are supportive to the CAS (Contract Academic Staff) endeavour to be recognized for the work they contribute to our learning atmosphere. This blog is an attempt to stretch our voice beyond our Facebook groups and the rapidly growing number of signatories of our petition and encompass the larger Laurier community on both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses. Such a violation to the basic human pursuit of livelihood that has transpired at Laurier should not be ignored. Such an imminent danger of a part-time faculty strike should not be overlooked. The students of Laurier as well as their friends and family and concerned, labour-friendly individuals from around the world should not lay silent on this issue that is so fundamental both for their livelihood, the livelihood of others, and the livelihood of the idea of what it is to be an academic. We are here to inform as well as to organize. For more information, visit the WLUFA website at www.wlufa.ca. Part-timers deserve our support for all that they impart on us.
