Fiscal responsibility

The difference between the two sides would roughly be the same as one year of the president's salary.

The latest WLUFA update indicates that the administration won't move despite there is so little. They are still not willing to compromise. They are jeopardising academic careers of both the students and the CAS.

Jim Butler and Sue Horton have awarded themselves $40,000 wage increases in the past, and are quibbling over a few hundred for equally qualified people. If there really is a debt incurred by the university, shouldn't it be payed by the people who made it? The CAS didn't, but the administration is spending more and more on capital and themselves, and forces the CAS and students to pay by lack of services.

Hearing rumours of cost overruns from buildings in Brantford of 7 million dollars, where are they getting the money? Shouldn't those who do this pay for it? Should I make my friends pay for my VISA bill?

Terre,

They're planning on demolishing and rebuilding St. Michaels. It's cost - 20 million dollars.

Also, in the 2006/2007 year the university paid 888,000 for the retirement of Rosehart and the leaves/retirement of three deans.

Those combined sums for leaves/retirements of four people are about equal to what a good deal for the CAS would cost like.

My figure is for the difference, not the total. It is pretty disheartening. All of this.

Laurier has the second largest debt load per student in Ontario, this is because of our very rapid expansion (although the spending mentioned by Anatoly was no help either). This is also due to the last president of Laurier, since the university he worked at prior is the university with the highest debt load in Ontario.

So the debt problem is a real problem. One of many examples: The DAWB had to be fixed up, class rooms had to be put up on the third floor of the Bricker Building. But, money should be found to pay our CAS.

I just wanted to make sure that we all know all the facts and make sure that entries written here have the least amount of bias possible. I found the wording of "If there really is a debt..." Somewhat misleading, because, there REALLY is a debt.
